How to Inspect a Glass Furnace Without Shutting It Down

How to Inspect a Glass Furnace Without Shutting It Down

Online inspection lets you assess furnace condition without losing production. Here is how it works in practice.

1. Use an existing opening

The cooled probe enters through a peephole or burner port while the furnace is running.

2. Cooling keeps the optics safe

Circulating water and compressed air protect the lens, and a wind curtain keeps dust and hot gas off the front.

3. What you can see

  1. Melt surface and batch line
  2. Crown and superstructure condition
  3. Flame shape and combustion
  4. Refractory erosion and corrosion
